Feeding Habits (Baby Major Mitchell Cockatoo)

The Major Mitchell Cockatoo bird feeds mostly on seeds, fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, pine trees and insects. High-quality pellets, a moderate amount of seed mix, and daily helpings of fresh, thoroughly washed bird-safe fruits and vegetables are the ideal diet for these birds. They tend to enjoy green leafy vegetables like lettuce, spinach, and Swiss chard as well as carrots, celery, corn, green beans, and zucchini.

Breeding

This bird specie breed from the month of  August to December (Spring).They form a life-long bond with their mate. The pair will place bits of wood and small stones in a hollow, which they like to use again every year. The pair will have 2 – 5 eggs in a clutch, which are incubated for 25 – 30 days. Both the parents will look after the chicks and they will stay in the nest for the first 6 to 8 weeks before they fledge (leave the nest). They will form small, family groups that stay together for quite some time.
